इस विषय पर एक विशेषज्ञ का कहना है कि तिब्बत का वातावरण बाकी हवाई मार्गों की तुलना में बेहद भिन्न है क्योंकि ऊॅंचाई पर होने और माउन्ट एवरेस्ट से नजदीकी होने के कारण जेट धाराएं तेजी से चलती है जिससे एक विमान के लिए इतनी तेज गति की धाराओं का सामना कर पानो किसी खतरे से खाली नही है। तिब्बत में हवाई पट्टी इतनी संकीर्ण है कि अब तक दनिया में केवल 8 पायलट यहां विमान उतार पाने में सक्षम हो पाए।
