बनारस हिंदू विश्वविद्यालय के वाइस चांसलर गिरिश चंद्र त्रिपाठी ने कैंपस में हुए आंदोलन पर सनसनीखेज़ आरोप लगाया है. उन्होंने कहा है कि कैंपस में आंदोलन के बाद उपजी हिंसा असामाजिक तत्वों का पूर्व नियोजित षड्यंत्र था.

कुलपति ने कहा, "हमें पता चला है कि बड़ी मात्रा में बाहर से आए लोग इस आंदोलन को हवा देने की कोशिश कर रहे थे. उन्होंने कहा कि हमें सूचना मिली है कि कुछ असामाजिक तत्व विश्वविद्यालय के माहौल को बदनाम करने का षड्यंत्र रच रहे हैं."

त्रिपाठी ने मीडिया से बातचीत में कहा, "हमारी एक छात्रा के साथ दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण घटना घटी, जिसके बाद हमने सुरक्षा को और सख्त बनाना तय कर लिया और इसके लिए प्रयास भी हो रहे हैं. उन्होंने कहा कि कैंपस में छात्राओं की सुरक्षा के लिए जगह-जगह सीसीटीवी कैमरे लगाए जा रहे हैं. उन्होंने कहा कि कैंपस को सुरक्षित बनाने के लिए हरसंभव प्रयास किया जा रहा है."

वहीं दूसरी तरफ मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ ने इस पूरे मामले के खिलाफ कड़ी कार्रवाई करने की बात कही है. मुख्यमंत्री के आधिकारिक ट्विटर एकाउंट पर ट्वीट किया गया कि मुख्यमंत्री ने वाराणसी के कमिश्नर से बीएचयू के पूरे घटनाक्रम की रिपोर्ट मांगी है. साथ ही पत्रकारों के साथ हुई घटना को गंभीरता से लेते हुए कमिश्नर वाराणसी से रिपोर्ट देने को कहा गया है.
