डीसी घनश्याम थोरी ने जानकारी देते हुए बताया कि पंजाब प्रदूषण कंट्रोल द्वारा मोटरसाइकिल के पटाके पाने और पटाके मारने वाले साइलैंसर लगवाने गैर-कानूनी घोषित किए गए हैं। थोरी ने आम लोगों खासतौर पर नौजवानों को अपील की है कि मोटरसाइकिल पर लगे हुए पटाके मारने वाले साइलैंसर तुरंत बदले जाए ताकि जो समाज को ध्वनी से तंग होने और वातावरण को प्रदूषित होने से बचाया जा सके।

मोटरसाइकिलों को जब्त होने और मालिकों को कैद होने से बचाया जा सके। उन्होंने कहा कि अगर कोई मोटरसाइकिल के पटाके बजाता पाया जाता है तो मोटर व्हीकल एक्ट-1988 और हवा प्रदूषण (रोकथाम और कंट्रोल) एक्ट-1981 अधीन आरोपी व्यक्ति के विरूद्ध चालान के इलावा छह वर्ष तक की सजा समेत जुर्माना भी हो सकता है। उन्होंने जिला वासियों को अपील की कि अगर कोई भी मोटरसाइकिल पटाके मारता पाया जाता है तो कोई भी व्यक्ति समय, स्थान और मोटरसाइकिल का नंबर इस मोबाइल नंबर 98789-50593 पर भेज सकता है।
