A Special Investigation Team of the Punjab Police (SIT) examining Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar will be questioned here Wednesday by Guru Granth Sahib's insolence and then in 2015, investigating the firing on protesters.

SIT will inquire about Akshay from the case in which the actor had mediated an alleged deal between controversial Sant Gurmeet Ram Rahim and former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal. Sources in Punjab Police told that Akshay Kumar had requested that he be allowed to meet SIT officers in Chandigarh instead of Amritsar, where he was originally summoned.

Akshay will be questioned about his alleged role in dealing with Sukhbir Badal and controversial saint, who was made shortly before the release of Ram Rahim's film in Mumbai in 2015. The saint was later sentenced to 20 years in jail for the crime of misbehavior.

However, Akshay has denied his role in arranging such a meeting or in making such a deal. On the other hand, Badal said on Tuesday that he had never met Akshay Kumar outside of Punjab. Badal said, "I have never met Akshay Kumar outside Punjab."

On Monday, SIT interrogated Sukhbir Badal in the Punjab Police Headquarters. He accused the inquiry as "embarrassing" and alleged that the Congress government under the leadership of Chief Minister Amarinder Singh was taking political action in Punjab.

The SIT was questioned by former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on November 16, which was led by Additional Inspector General of Police (ADGP) Pramod Kumar and Inspector General Kunwar Vijay Pratap. Sr. Badal said that he told the SIT that he had not ordered the shooting of Sikh protesters who were protesting against the incident of unrest in October 2015.

Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had earlier said that his government has no role in issuing summons to Badal and actor Akshay Kumar. In September this year, the SIT was formed by the Amarinder government to investigate the cases of Guru Granth Sahib's insolence. Two protesters were killed in police shootings in Behalal Kalan village near Kotakpura town of Faridkot district in 2015.
