Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the country's longest railway road bridge on December 25, the birthday of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. With the creation of this bridge, it will be easy to reach the border of China from Arunachal Pradesh.

The length of this Bogibi bridge, built on the Brahmaputra river in the state of Assam, is 4.94 km. This bridge connects Dibrugarh district on the southern bank of the river to the seal gate of Dhemaji district, which is situated on the border of Arunal Pradesh.

The railway official said that Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate this bridge on December 25, which is also celebrated by the government as a Good Day. The foundation stone of this bridge was laid by the then Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda in 1997. But its construction began only in April 2002, when the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had laid its foundation stone with Railway Minister Nitish Kumar. After several dates of completion of construction of the bridge have failed, the first freight train had passed this bridge on December 3 this year.

With the construction of this bridge with three-lane road and two railway tracks, it will be easy to reach the border of China in Arunachal Pradesh. It will also help in delivering military equipment. There is a border of about four kilometers between India and China. This bridge will reduce the distance of 500 kilometers between Dibrugarh and Arunachal Pradesh by 100 kilometer. Hundred per cent welded bridge has been constructed using the latest state of the art technology.
