What is Kartarpur Sahib?



Kartarpur Sahib is the holy pilgrimage site of the Sikhs. This was the residence of the first Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji and he died here. Later in his memory, a gurdwara was built here.



According to historians, Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, came to Kartarpur in the year 1522. He had spent the last 17-18 years of his life here. On September 22, 1539, Gurunanak ji took a last breath in this gurus.

Kartarpur Sahib is located in Narowal district of Pakistan. It is located three to four kilometers from Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur district of Punjab and 120 km from Lahore is far.



What is Kartarpur Sahib Corridor?



In India, about 2 kilometer corridor or corridor will be constructed from Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab to the International Border, while Pakistan will also construct two kilometer corridor from the border to the Guruvayur in Narowal district. This has been called Kartarpur Sahib Corridor.

Kartarpur Sahib is considered to be the first gurudwara, whose foundation was laid by Guru Nanak Dev Ji and here he had spent the last years of his life. However later it was flowing due to flood in Ravi river. This was followed by the present gurudwara Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

At the time of Partition of Indo-Paki, this Gurdwara had gone to Pakistan, therefore the citizens of India need Visa to visit Kartarpur Sahib.
