After dissolution of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, the EC has to re-elect it within six months. An official said that the last limit is ending in May. We can get elections in Jammu and Kashmir with the Lok Sabha elections. But it can happen before. We will see in the coming days. The six-year term of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly was going to end on 16 March 2021. The Legislative Assembly of the other states and the term of Lok Sabha is five years old.

However, the sources present in the government told that when the security forces will be deployed during the Lok Sabha elections in the state, the election authority will be able to hold simultaneous assembly elections together. The term of Sikkim assembly is ending on 27th May, 2019 and the tenure of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Arunachal Pradesh Assembly ends on June 18, June 11 and June 1 respectively. The official said that it is natural for the arrangements for the Lok Sabha elections and the term of the Assembly terminates at the same time that all the elections should be done together. Another official of the Election Commission said that if the Maharashtra and Haryana assembly elections are held in four states and Combined with the elections in the Lok Sabha, there will be no other election in 2019.

He said that there are BJP governments in both the states. If the party decides to dissolve both the assembly six months before the scheduled time, then there can be an election with the Lok Sabha and the four states. The term of the Assembly of the two states will end in November 2019.
